When it comes to the smartphone market, OnePlus is still a relatively new company compared to others like Apple or Samsung, but the most recent OnePlus 3 smartphone a lot to offer – enough that it has a good chance of becoming a household name. It boasts that it specs are able to compete with the HTC 10 or Galaxy S7, and it has a friendly price tag at $399. Here’s all you need to know relating to the OnePlus 3, with this detailed breakdown.
After months of rumors and information leaks, OnePlus 3 was finally announced that their new 2016 “flagship killer” is a smartphone that every Android users should consider. In 2014 and 2015 OnePlus made excellent phones but they were difficult to buy, and the company has since been able to learn from these mistakes and so this phone is being made available today.
A different approach
So instead of months of waiting, with long pre-orders, or invite systems that devices were sold out on, and none being available, this year OnePlus has taken a different approach. The new 5.5” powerhouse smartphone is available now for the very reasonable price of just $399 with 64GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. This beats anything we have seen from other Android manufacturers during 2016.
In May the OnePlus company confirmed that this year they would not use an invite system with the OnePlus 3, which fans of the brand found very exciting, but no one expected it would be available the same day as the announcement was made.
The new models
The new OnePlus 3 sports a large 5.5” 1080p HD AMOLED display, promising to be far better than what was seen last year. A Quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor powers it, which is thesame as the Galaxy S7 uses, along with 6GB of RAM for incredibly fast multi-tasking, and 64GB of internal storage, USB Type-C port for charging, optical image stabilization 16 megapixel rear camera, an improved lightning fast fingerprint scanner, and a new “Dash Charge” technology that can charge the 3,000 mAh battery from 0% to 60% in just 30 minutes.
It has all the features of a high-end flagship phone but it costs about half the price.
On June 14th the announcement for the new OnePlus 3 happened using a Google Play Store virtual reality app, and the release date was said to be June 14th the same day as the announcement, which was a bit of shock. There were no invite systems, no long lines, and no failed attempts for those that wanted to get the phone this year – you could simply buy it from the Loop VR app, and on OnePlus.net/3.
Basically the screen size of the OnePlus 3 is the same as the Galaxy S7 Edge, and they ahve similar internals but the OnePlus 3 has more RAM, more storage, fast charging, a pretty good camera, a fingerprint scanner, and an aluminum unibody design – there’s more and the price is only $399. This makes it in direct competition with the Samsung’s Galaxy S7 Edge, which costs $800. Just the difference in price point should catch the interest of potential buyers in the market. It’s important to note it does not have a micro-SD slot and it has no water-resistant features.
